I have a 2019 Toyota Hilux that makes a repetitive ticking/clicking sound when I turn the key, but the engine does not crank at all. The battery is new (replaced 2 months ago) and shows 12.6V on a multimeter, so the battery is not the issue. I have three questions: 1) Has the starter motor solenoid failed? The rapid ticking sound suggests the solenoid is engaging repeatedly but not holding - is this a classic sign of solenoid failure? 2) How can I test the starter motor by applying 12V directly to bypass the ignition circuit and confirm whether the starter itself is faulty or if the problem is in the wiring/solenoid? 3) For the 2GD-FTV diesel engine in the 2019 Hilux, is the starter motor easy to access and replace, or does it require removing major components?
