I have a 2020 Hyundai Elantra and the driver's side power window is stuck halfway down and makes a grinding noise when I activate the window switch. I have three questions: 1) Based on these symptoms (stuck halfway with grinding noise), has the window regulator motor failed or is it the cable mechanism that has broken? How can I diagnose which component is the problem? 2) Is it safe to manually push the window up from inside or outside to temporarily secure the car and protect it from weather/theft until I can get it repaired? Will doing so cause any additional damage? 3) What is the approximate cost of the replacement parts (window regulator motor vs cable mechanism) for a 2020 Hyundai Elantra, and is this a repair I can do myself or does it require a professional mechanic?
