We would like to inform you that about working in Poland, the future employer must apply for a work permit for you. It makes the whole process complicated because you need to find a job before you are allowed to work. This means that you have two options to find a job before coming to Poland:
Coming to Poland without any type of work permit and changing your legal status after finding work. And if you find an employer willing to hire you and that your residence is legal (based on a visa or residence permit). In order to obtain a work permit, your future employer needs to fill out a work permit application that includes the name of the company that hires you and the future job title within this company. This has major implications because your work permit is only valid for the company and position assigned. If you decide to leave your company, you will lose your work permit. Likewise, if you want to get a new job, the new employer must go through the process of applying for a new work permit for you.
There are six different types of work permits:
A - When a person is employed in a company based in Poland
B - When a person performs a position on a board of directors or works as a general partner or an agent
C - When a person works for a non-Polish employer but is authorized for more than 30 days to a branch or facility located in Poland
D - When a person works for a non-Polish employer and is delegated to Poland for this purpose to perform a service, for example an export service
E - When a person works for a non-Polish employer and is delegated to Poland for a period longer than 3 months within the next six months for a purpose other than those previously mentioned
F - Seasonal Work Permit Submitted on January 1, 2018. Seasonal Work Permit is issued by Staroste at the request of the business owner. Please note that after January 1, 2018, only seasonal work will be allowed on the basis of a seasonal work permit.
Work permits are issued by a local "voivode" (head of the land government) and issued during the period of residence required to do the work specified in your employer's permit. In order for a work permit to be valid, you need to sign a work contract with the employer who applied for your permit.
An employer is legally obligated to:
Submit the work contract in writing
Provide you with a translation of the employment contract in a language you understand
Check the validity and make a copy of your residence permit or visa
