We would like to inform you that the Ministry of Defense is expected to announce the abolition of the requirement that those wishing to join the military are from the Commonwealth or so-called British Association of People, such as Australia, India, Canada, Kenya, and Fiji have lived in Britain for five years. The Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force will begin recruitment immediately and opened applications for the British Army in early 2019.

You will then have to apply to the Royal Navy for your admission to the Army and provide all the documents that will be requested from you according to the stated conditions. Persons from non-Commonwealth countries will still need British citizenship until they are admitted. The only exception is the Jorka (special teams serving the British Crown for very difficult tasks) from Nepal and applicants from the Republic of Ireland.

The government allows 200 Commonwealth citizens who have not lived in Britain for five years to apply, a law introduced in 2016. But now the ceiling will be raised. The special rules already allow citizens of Ireland and Gorkas from Nepal to join the armed forces.
