We would like to inform you that you shall submit an application to the Committee of Births and Deaths in the Civil Status Department requesting that the name to be changed, as the committee will transfer the request to the Ministry of Interior for consideration, noting that the committee is concerned with the following:
1- The committee shall refer all the requests of the concerned parties to make any change in the data related to the name of the newborn, his surname, or the name of any of his parents, or a correction in the data related to the deceased, his surname, or the name of any of his parents mentioned in the records of births or deaths accompanied by its documents to the Ministry of Interior to seek its opinion on it before considering it.
2- The committee examines and fulfills requests to change or correct the name of the newborn in which the Ministry of Interior approved the change or correction.
3- The committee may summon the applicant or whoever it sees his question or discuss and view are necessary and to have a look at necessary documents.
4- The committee shall order the publication of the requests whose reasons have been confirmed in a newspaper at the expense of the applicant.
5- Oppositions of the applications that were published within fifteen days from the date of this publication shall be submitted to the committee, and the committee shall decide on them with a reasoned and final decision.
6- The committee shall issue a decision to make the required change or correction in the published applications, and no opposition was submitted to it within the legally prescribed time or submitted and the committee considered that it was not based on a correct basis.
NOTE: Regarding the fees for amending names, it cannot be determined precisely, and the competent authority can be consulted to inquire about this matter
