I was sick on Monday but did not message my manager or HR about my sickness. I was having a fever and was sleeping I was only able to reach out to them around 2 pm informing them I'm sick and will have to take sick leave. They are telling me I cannot take sick leave as I was expected to inform my absence at least by 9:30 am. Because I did not inform them on time, they will put me on unpaid leave even though I am sick and have annual leave balance. My question is as per UAE labor law, can my employer force me to take unpaid leave even though I have annual leave balance and could not inform them on time about my sickness.

In that case, you must be presented to the doctor in the workplace or any doctor in a governmental hospital to decide whether or not you are entitled to a sick leave.
If the employer refuses this procedure, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation
