Chest pain treatment:


  • The treatment of chest pain depends on the cause that led to its occurrence, the severity of the pain, and whether it is accompanied by other symptoms. As there are many causes that lead to chest pain, some of them are serious and require urgent medical intervention, and some do not require medical intervention or a visit to the hospital. Among the important causes of chest pain are heart attacks, in which the pain is in the left side of the chest and the patient feels heaviness on the chest and tightness Breathing, sweating, and pain in the left arm or jaw,  all of these symptoms occur within 15-30 minutes and treatment must be done in the hospital, either with cardiac catheterization or drugs that dissolve clots  ,Other causes include angina pectoris, which results from narrowing of the coronary arteries feeding the heart, in which the patient feels chest pain, jaw or neck pain, with a general feeling of discomfortand it has many degrees, some of which require medical intervention if the pain is severe and squeezing in the chest, and medications such as calcium channel blockers, beta 2 blockers, or cardiac catheters are used, and some of them can be treated at home by following some tips such as rest, quitting smoking, exercising, avoiding Fatty foods and others,other causes that cause chest pain are inflammation of the cartilage of the rib cage or muscle spasm of in the muscles of the rib cage and its treatment is by using oral pain relievers such as Naproxen 500 mg two tablets daily for 5 days, in addition to using a topical pain reliever such as Diclofen gel topical paint on the chest 3 times a day, with a muscle relaxant such as Sirdalud 2mg three times a day, in addition to using warm water compresses on the chest area and avoiding lifting any heavy weights, warming the chest area and avoiding exposure to cold air currents , other cause is esophageal reflux which is accompanied by feeling of acidity and heartburn in the chest and a sense of metallic taste in Oral treatment is with proton pump inhibitors such as Esomperazole

How is the diagnosis made?


  • The diagnosis is made by taking the patient’s history, studying risk factors such as smoking, eating fat, obesity, family history, studying the symptoms you suffer from, a clinical examination, and then running some tests such as ECG and heart enzymes to rule out attacks and angina pectoris, chest x-ray to rule out Chest infections, barium x-ray to rule out GERD, complete blood test to assess white blood cell count
