salam alaykum. I am a Scot, elgally married to an Omani and we are looking to buiild a villa in Barka Oman. If my husband and I die, can the villa be passed to my daughter who was born to my then UK husband years ago, We are concerned that the house may revert to the Government and she will have no benefits as she has major health issues and I need to know she is able to inherit
Lawyer's Assistant: Where are you located? It matters because laws vary by location

We would like to inform you that starting with being married to an Omani man illegally, doesn't affect your ownership of the property you want to build.

Since you have a daughter from your British husband and this marriage was legitimate and documented, your daughter will inherit your money as the rightful heir to you if you die.

But in order for you to inherit, the property or part of it must be in your name

Thus, the law of illegal marriage to Omani men has nothing to do with property rights and inheritance.

You have missed the point sir. Non Omanis are not allowed to own land in Oman and my question was to clarify if my husband died and I inherit the house as his wife, can my daughter then own the property on my death. This is about land ownership not marriage status or inheritance thank you

الرد من العميل

We are married legally that was a typo

Your daughter can only own the property with the approval of the Minister of Interior
