We would like to inform you that if you work in a private university, the labor law is enforced and no other law may be applied unless this law is consistent with the labor system and does not contradict with it, as the labor system explicitly affirms that as it stipulates:
Article 12:
Both the employer and the worker shall be familiar with the provisions of the Labor Law in all its contents so that each of them shall be aware of his position and of his rights and duties. Any employer who employs ten or more workers shall submit to the Ministry, a work organization regulation including internal work provisions, within a year of the effective date of this Law or from the date of reaching the quota. Such regulations shall include the work organization rules and all related provisions including the provisions related to privileges, violations and disciplinary penalties, not contradicting the provisions of this Law.

Public universities are subject to the civil service system, which is a legislation that regulates the relationship among official institutions and their public employees, so therefore the university’s legal system shall be consistent with the civil service system and not contradict it or conflict with it.

Good morning. For example. Public university regulations say there is no provision for Sick leave if non Saudi faculty falls sick outside the country. Where as Saudi labor law says sick leave can be taken. Which will be the final one?

The worker may not be deprived of sick leave, and you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources
