treatment of Hepatitis B:


  • infection of Hepatitis B is one of the most serious liver infections and it can be acute or chronic which lasts for more than 6 months and can lead to major complications such as liver failure and liver cirrhosis ,treatment of Hepatitis B infection depends on how long have the patient infected for ,as acute hepatitis B infection requires symtomatic treatment such as getting rest ,put on loose clothing,maintain weel-ventilated environment,and take metoclopramide if you have vomiting and antihistamine such as chlorphenramine to reduce itching ,and to reduce abdominal pain you can use paracetamol, but chronic hepatitis B need to be treated with specific medications to slow the progression of the disease and avoid its complications such as oral Antiviral drugs which slow the ability of the virus to destroy liver tissue such as Entecavir ,Lamivudine or Adefovir ,and injections of Interferons to avoid the complications of the infections through stimulation of the immune system to attack the virus such as peginterferon alpha -2a or Interferon alpha -2b ,if the liver damage is severe then liver transplant should be considered

diagnosis :


  • based on medical and exposure history, physical examination and running of some tests such as liver ultrasound or CT to assess any cirrhosis , blood tests such as ALT and AST which are high in the infection and look for the elements of the virus and its antibodies such as Hepatitis B surface antigen: if it is positive, then there is an active infection from hepatitis B infection, but if it is negative, then there is no active infection from the virus, Hepatitis B Core Antibody: If it is positive of the IgM type, then this means that there is an acute active infection of the hepatitis B virus, but if it is IgG positive, this means that there is a chronic infection of the virus or that it has been cured, and in If the test is negative, this means that infection has occurred in the distant past or as a result of vaccination, Antigen E of Hepatitis B: Being positive means the presence of a large amount of B virus in the body, which increases the possibility of infection with others. Antibodies to Hepatitis B surface Antigen: If it is positive, then this means that the vaccination against the B virus, or after the virus has been cured, or the infection is chronic, but if it is negative then this means that the virus has not been exposed or has not been properly responded to From the immune system, and DNA levels of Hepatitis B: If positive, this indicates the presence of an active B virus infection
