Hi, My tenancy contract expired March 2020 and I requested for a three months extension in writing. During this period, my wife lost her job and my deployment at work was reduced. For this reason I could not meet up with the rent for this three months extension. By the end of the three months, I moved out of the apartment after the landlord had conducted inspection of the apartment. I requested my landlord to grant me NOC to close my SEWA contract with Sharjah municipality and a 3 months payment plan to pay the outstanding rent. He refused. I visited their office many times and write them a number of times on this subject, but nine of these yielded positive result. Last month, I received a bill of 67000AED from Sharjah municipality. When I visited Sharjah municipality, I was told I had a case and that the decision was that I should pay 67,000 AED as against 16,000 AED. There is no way I can make this payment because I don't have the money by any conceivable means. What should I do?
