We would like to inform you that that the family courts in Bahrain are not competent to divorce non-Muslims. Hence, with regard to the divorce request, it is at the embassy to which the spouses belong.
However, in the event of physical assault, you may go to the nearest police station and file a report, preferably a medical report to support the complaint so that the aggressor who causes harm is investigated, convicted, and referred to the court for legal punishment, as stated by the Bahraini legislator in Article 333 of the Bahraini Penal Code:
If the husband’s beating of his wife is considered a form of domestic violence, which is punishable by a penalty of up to death if the killing occurred with surveillance, or preceded by persistence, or if it falls on the assets of the offender, but if the integrity of the body of another is attacked by any means and he did not intend to kill, he shall be punished with imprisonment for a period of seven years, if the circumstances set forth in Article 333 of the Penal Code are present.
The law also stipulates the penalty of imprisonment for a period not exceeding seven years for anyone who willfully causes a permanent disability to another. As for whoever assaults the integrity of the body of another by any means, and the assault ends with a permanent disability that he intends to cause, he shall be punished with imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years.
To complement that, the legislator stipulates the punishment of imprisonment and a fine for anyone who assaults the integrity of the body of others by any means, and the assault leads to his illness or inability to perform his personal work for a period not exceeding twenty days. The penalty shall be imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year or a fine not exceeding one hundred Bahraini dinars if the result of the assault does not reach a grave stage.
