What authentication is needed for previous (30 years ago)American divorce decree so that I can marry an Egyptian man? I have filing and book stamps, but the decree came from archive facilities and cannot be certified here at my Embassy. It is an original document. I already live in Egypt and have the Affidavit/No Objection from the USA Embassy in Cairo which also has the divorce information. My Embassy says I only need the Affidavit, not the divorce decree itself, and the Egyptian Embassy in Los Angeles emailed me not to send it to them because I'm in Egypt, but to have it stamped here instead. I have this Email.

We tried to yesterday at the Ministry of Justice so that we could also sign the contract there, but they said my divorce decree must be sent to America first, to the Egyptian Embassy and that it needs some other stamp from my government but my US Embassy assured me-from several people in different departments including the ACS, that only my Affidavit from them is needed, not my divorce decree, and they refuse to authenticate anything except the Affidavit of no objection which has my previous dates of marriage and divorce included.
