Please kindly be informed that if a person drives a vehicle under the influence of narcotics or alcohol, the penalty of such an act if proven, is imprisonment and aying a fine of no less than twenty thousand dirhams or either of these two penalties
This is in accordance with the provisions of the Traffic and Traffic Law No. 21 of 1995, which reads: -
Article 49
Whoever commits any of the following acts shall be punished by imprisonment and a fine of not less than twenty thousand dirhams or one of these two penalties:
1- The fabrication or imitation of a number plate or the use of an artificial or a counterfeit number plate.
2- Distorting, obliterating, or modifying the data of a number plate while using it for what it was intended for.
3- Using or allowing others to use a number plate, and he / she knows that it may be obliterated, distorted or altered.
4- Transferring a number plate from one vehicle to another vehicle without the approval of the licensing authority.
5- Not parking without an acceptable excuse when a traffic accident occurs by him that resulted in injuries to persons.
6- Driving a vehicle or starting to drive it on the road while under the influence of alcoholic beverages or narcotic substances or what is considered like it e.g. alcohol.
This is in accordance with the provisions of the Traffic and Traffic Law No. 21 of 1995, which reads: -
