Article 372:
A penalty of imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years, or a fine not exceeding 20.000 AED, from a bond to another, through one of the methods of publicity that is a fact that would make it subject to punishment or contempt.
The penalty shall be imprisonment and a fine, or one of these two penalties, if the defamation occurred against a public official or person charged with a public service during, due to, or on the occasion of performing the job or public service, or if he breached the offer or was insulting to the reputation of the families, or if it was noticeable to achieve an illegal purpose.
If defamation occurred by way of publication in a newspaper, then it is considered an aggravating circumstance.
