Hi, I am a resident of Ras al khaimah, UAE. I paid 3 cheques to real estate agent towards my rent in 2016/17. By the time I vacated , subject building was in court as the woner passed away and settlement among his legal heirs. Real estate agent tole me to pay one cheque amount and get the cheque back from court directly. I paid and got the cheque back. After 2 months real estate broker collected balance amount from me saying that he would get the cheques back and gave me the receipt for that amount. It has been morethan 3 years he did not get the cheque. Evrytime, he tells a different reason...court holiday, court office moved etc., Initially he told me that money is already paid to the court. Recently, He told money is with him. I told him to give the money back so that I can directly go to court and pay, get my cheques back. He denied. He said he will get the cheques back. Every year he used to call me and take the old receipt of payment made by me and issue me a new receipt. Please advise what needs to be done now from my side?
