We would like to inform you that usually in companies the sponsor or the deputy only can performs  the procedures of cancelling the visa or residence. The guaranteed cannot apply without the sponsor’s permit. However, if the sponsor rejects completing the application, then you can file a complaint at the ministry of labor to prove the expiration of the employment contract.  

The sponsor or his representative (for example, in case of companies) shall do the procedures for cancelling the residence visa. The sponsor can not proceed without permission and the sponsor signature.

If the company decides to cancel the work visa for the employee, it must first refer to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and apply for cancellation of the work contract and the worker's ID card. This application must be signed by the employer and the employee, attached by a letter signed by the worker stating that he /she has received all of his / her salary, entitlements and end of service benefits from the company.

After completing the cancellation at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the sponsor can only apply for cancellation of the residence visa at the general directorate of residence and foreign affairs in the competent Emirate.

The application for cancellation of residence can be submitted through the accredited printing offices or electronically via the platforms provided by the relevant authorities to issue residence visas as follows:

Certified printing offices

The sponsor or his authorized representative may visit any of the printing offices accredited by the Directorate General for Residency and Foreigners Affairs in the concerned Emirate. The printing office shall print the cancellation application electronically on behalf of the applicant and submit it to the General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners Affairs for approval and stamping the cancellation.

Electronically

As a faster alternative, the sponsor can apply for the cancellation himself electronically through the electronic services of the Directorate General for Residency and Foreigners Affairs in the Emirate concerned or through the electronic platforms available to the Ministry of the Interior.

The documents required to cancel the residence visa

The following documents must be attached upon submitting of the application for cancelling the residence visa at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs:

• Cancellation application form signed by the sponsor
• If the sponsor is a company or establishment, the application must include the signature and stamp of the company, along with a letter of clearance and settling all the procedures by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
• Original passport of the sponsored.
• The original ID card of the sponsored.
• In case that the sponsored person is outside the country, the original passport must be attached, if it is not possible, a request for the residence visa from the computer system.

The cancellation of the visa for the sponsored is a step that must be implemented properly when a resident in the UAE wants to leave permanently. It must be done in accordance with the conditions and regulations of the Directorate General for Residence and Foreigners Affairs.

Cancellation of visa
Cancellation of a residence visa for UAE residents, whether for work or residence, and they want to leave permanently and whether they are guaranteed by the employer or by a family member, shall be carried out by officials responsible for this and taking into consideration the general guidelines and assets of the Department of Foreigners Affairs in the UAE.

Steps to cancel the residence visa
First, an application for cancellation of residence in the UAE should be submitted through accredited offices for printing by visiting the sponsor or his authorized representative to visit the accredited printing offices prepared by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in the Emirate concerned. The Office shall process the application for cancellation and print it electronically on behalf of the applicant and submit it to the Directorate General for Foreign Residents Affairs in the Emirate to approve the application for revocation and cancellation of the visa.

Duration of cancellation
Cancellation takes only one day in normal or less cases, depending on the applicant's application to cancel the visa for all documents and requirements

Required documents:
The cancellation of the visa requires a documents that need to be highlighted and submitted to the Directorate General of Residence and the Department of Foreign Affairs. These documents are:
1. The visa cancellation application form must be signed by the competent sponsor.
2- The company or establishment stamp on the visa cancellation application form if the sponsor is a company or establishment.
3 - Letter of resignation and termination of procedures from the Ministry of Human Resources and resettlement.

4. Original passport of the sponsored person
   5 - The original identity card of the sponsored
   6 - The original passport or an extract thereof and the residence visa should be brought from the computer if the original passport cannot be brought in case the sponsor is outside the country

Responsible for completing the cancellation process
* The sponsor cannot sign the application without permission and the sponsor sign it, but the sponsor is responsible for the completion of the cancellation of the visa usually, or the delegate on behalf of him as delegate in some companies, he is working to follow the procedures for canceling the visa residence guaranteed.

* In cases of personal residence visas or that are guaranteed to the family, as in the case of the husband and wife of the sponsor of the child and dependents, the sponsor must cancel the sponsor visa, first before he cancels his visa to reside in the emirate concerned, and this is done by the General Directorate of residence and foreign affairs first.

Important Notes
1 - Upon cancellation of visa for UAE sponsored employees, it is also necessary to cancel the identity card issued to the sponsored by the UAE.
2 - Individual visas must be canceled for the family of the individual first before the visa is canceled for himself, as in the cases of husbands on the bail of their wives and children.

3. The sponsored person shall be granted a period of 30 days after the cancellation of the permit for his stay. He shall be allowed to leave the country or to obtain during that period another residence visa.
   4. No fines shall apply to the sponsored person during the grace period granted to him after the revocation of the visa for his residence.
   5. A free number of 8005000 is allocated to communicate with the Ministry of the Interior or Public Ijara, for residence and foreigners affairs, in order to allow any inquiries and information regarding the cancellation of the visa to reside in the concerned UAE.
