We would like to inform you that if a person has created a fake Instagram account and claimed that your husband is cheating on you and you reported the Anti-Cyber Crime Department against him, as soon as that person is found and the incident is proven against him, the prescribed penalty for that is imprisonment and a fine that is not less than two hundred and fifty thousand dirhams and not exceeding five hundred thousand dirhams, or one of these two penalties. This is in accordance with the provisions of the Cyber Crime Law, which stipulates m:
Article 20:
Without prejudice to the provisions of the offense of libel prescribed in the Islamic Shari'a, a penalty of imprisonment and a fine of not less than two hundred and fifty thousand dirhams and not exceeding five hundred thousand dirhams or either of these two penalties shall be imposed on every person who harm or insult other that make them punishable or disdainful by others using the means of an information network or an information technology. If a libel or insult is inflicted on a public official or a public service officer on the occasion or because of the performance of his work, this is considered an aggravating circumstance for the crime.
