Coronary arteries stenting and balloning
Coronary arteries are the sole blood supply to the heart muscle, they are 2 main trunks from which multiple main branches comes out to supply the heart with the needed amount of blood to function well. In cases of coronary atherosclerosis that happen due to diabetes, dyslipedemia, smoking and hypertension, Coronaries got thrombosed and occluded and need revascularization procedure which is divided in to endovacular stenting and balloning or open heart revascularization surgical procedures. In case of coronary stenting the stent is placed in the coronary artery to keep it patent and functioning, in some cases the stent develop thrombosis and occlusion after that your treating cardiologist will decide to remove the stent and replace it with a new functioning stent. So the stent cannot be removed permenantly if the surgical procedure has not been decided. But in cases where the open heart revascularization was decided, the stent will be removed surgically and a new vessle will be placed to deliver blood to the heart muscle.
Required investigations
After proper physical exam, you should do ECG and Echo to diagnose any cardiac ischemia or depressed heart muscle function. Cardiac CT with contrast is a wise procedure to diagnose stent thrombosis or direct cardiac diagnostic catheter will be the diagnostic modality of choice.
Causes of stent failure
Our advice
You are adviced to have a well balanced diet rich in minerals and vitamins from its natural sources, conrol you DM,HTN and weight well and consult your cardiologist if developed symptomes of chest pain and dyspnea .
