My Employer terminated my employment in May 2020...
My Employer terminated my employment in May 2020 without payment of my full entitlements and he is also withholding my passport. Due to the closure of the airport I am unable to return home. Recently he has been demanding that I attend his office and accompany the PRO to cancel my visa. This will leave me in a difficult position. Can he insist on this cancellation as I would rather maintain my visa and wait to the airport is open again and normal flights back to the Philippines resume. Your advise please

We would like to inform you that if you are an expat and the employer took your passport, then the employer doesn't have the right to take it. So you can claim for it, and if they refuse then you can file a complaint with the police and provide a copy of that complaint to the Ministry of Labor to prove the violation.
Note that the law allows the governmental departments that belong to the Ministry of Interior to take the passport, otherwise it is legal violation such as the private sector.
