Blood pressure is the measurment of systemic vascular preesure that reflect the systolic and diastolic functions of the heart that should be regular and even within the normal ranges of less than 125 mm mercury for the systolic and less than 85 mm mercury for the diastolic, pulse 50-85 b/m. Blood pressure is important implication of the body vasculature status and cardiac function .in cases of systemic atherosclerosis where the vessels are getting hard and calcified including the cornoraries that supply the heart muscle, BP got higher than normal and this will lead to a various of complications including Ischemic strokes, cardiac ischemic diseases and renal failure on the long term of improperly treated BP.
Investigations 
In cases where there is perisistent high blood pressure, you should check for cardiac rhythm by ECG, Heart Echocardiography, and check for kidney functions Urea, Cr in addition to carotid doppler US. screening of blood glucose level 2 hours after meals, serum Cholestrol and triglicerides
