We would like to inform you that for the legal governing the licensing of alcoholic beverages in Dubai, the Basic Law is Act No. 999 of 1972 (the "Alcohol Control Act");
There are also a number of provisions relating to alcohol consumption, advertising and sale in Dubai (such as the Penal Code, advertising laws, taxation and customs laws, etc.).
Alcohol licenses in Dubai are issued by Dubai Police General Headquarters
Article (2) of the Liquor Control Law stipulates that the Dubai Police General Headquarters may grant a person a license to export liquor outside the Emirate upon a request subject to the registration. It includes:
-Data on the applicant, including the name of the actual person whose name will be mentioned in the license;
- Description of buildings where alcohol is expected to be sold;
- Describe the security arrangement for the storage of alcoholic beverages;
- Describe preventive measures against fire;
- The cost of the amount of liquor required per month.
How long does it normally take to issue the third type of liquor license by Dubai Police Headquarters?
** The license is usually issued within seven to ten working days from the date of inspection of the relevant premises by officers of the Dubai Police GHQ.
