Symptomes and management of Acute abdominal pain
Abdominal pain is a state that happen due to different intra- abdominal causes, most likely in this case of peri-umblical abdominal pain is due Urinary tract infection which is associated with dysurea, frequency and some times sligh rise in temperature, you should do a urine analysis to confirm the diagnosis before starting a treatment with Sulphamethaxazol/ Trimethoprim Syrup 7 ml 3 times a day in addition to Ibuprofen 100 mg susp 10 ml as required. If the child is having vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea this could be due to Acutte gastroenteritis where she should have the same medications. if the pain is being shifted toward the right side you should consult the surgeon doctor at the ER to rule out acute appendicitis
Required Invetigations
After doing a proper physcial exam, you should do CBC to detect any rise in WBC , Urine anlaysis to detect UTI, abdominal US to detect cystitis, acute appendicitis, stool analysis to detect any parasitic infection , Abdominal CT if pain perisisted .
Causes
Our advice
You should avoid using analgesia if you dont have the exact diagnosis not to mask any underlying acute abdominal cause, feed the child proberly and ensure having enough water and warm drinks
