I was on six months probation and had to go back to the US for an emergency. I was only a week before my probation was complete but when I returned HR said that they would add 25 days due to unpaid leave during my time away and quarantine. I was working remotely during quarantine as well. Can they extend my probation due to

It was originally 3 months but they extended it to 6 before the three months was over, was this legal?

It didn’t exceed six months but the original period was three months and they extended it to six before the three months was completed
