Signs and symptomes of retained tissue after abortion 
After a conception has been aborted a complete tissue expulsion by the uterus should happen depending on the gestational age, if some tissue remained retained in the uterus it will cause continues bleeding and some times it got infected to cause high fever, abdominal pain and vomiting. An urgent consultation of your treating gynecologist is  a must to avoid septic complications.
Required tests 
After a proper clinical exam, CBC should be done to detect and Hgb drop or rise in WBC count if infection happened, additional tests include kidney function tests , liver function tests and coagulation profile : PTT, INR. To detect any retained tissue or uterine fibroids an US scan of the uterus should be done to check for the ovaries and the uterus. Hormonal screening include FSH, Estrogen and progestrone to detect any hormonal imbalance.  A diltation and curritage procedure should be done on Gynecologist office to clean the uterus and a histologic examination should be done to detect any abnormal tissue.
Possible causes 

• Retained fetal tissue in the uterus 
• Uterine fibroids 
• Malignant uterine tumors 
• Polycystic disease of the ovary

You are adviced to have a well balanced diet rich of protein, vegetables and fruit to have enough iron supplement to avoid anemia, do regular exercise, avoid smoking and consult your treating gynecologist.
