My 4y old daughter was on the sun in the pool on Thursday noon. EVening that day saw her tiered, with small fever. Friday was fight with fever and vomiting ( she had some soup, yogurt, and was having water and tea, in a small quantities). Saturday, no vomiting with a whole day fighting fever, refuses to eat. Temperature didn't cross 39c. And today is Sunday, still with fever, refusing to eat, but having water and yogurt.

Causes and treatment of Vomiting and fever  
Upper Respiratory tract infections   is among the most commonly encountred infections that happen among young children especially after pool pathing and exposure to contaminated water and unhealthy weather, its accompanied with fever, vomiting and cough with sneezing and fatigue. care should be paid to a similar symptomes that happened in case of meningitis infection that is accompanied by hedache, fatigue, vomiting and fever and this disease should be diagnosed early and treated at hospital to prevent progression of symptomes to a more severe course so you should consult a pediatrician. to treat the current symptomes you can use Paracetamol 100 mg syrup 8 ml every 6 hrs plus Amoxicillin/ Clavuloic acid 250 mg sus 5 ml every 12 hrs  and keep your child hydrated  but if symptomes of fever and vomiting perisisted beyond 48 hrs you should consult a pediatrician as soon as you can.
Required Investigations 
After a proper physical exam  a CBC will be ordered to detect any increase in WBC count, a chest X RAY is ordered to rule out any lung infections, urine analysis should be done to detect urinary tract infections. if signs of meningitis are detected by physical exam cereprospinal fluid analysis will be done after doing lumpur puncter through the childs lumpar vertebra mostly after doing fundoscopic exam of the childs eye to detect any signs of rise in the cranial pressure that will be visible as edema around optic nerve in the eye. Kidney funtion tests and electrolytes are done to detect any disturbance due to vomiting, liver function tests and hepatitis A should be done to rule out hepatitis A infection.

  • Acute gastro-enteritis 
  • Acute Meningitis 
  • Acute Otitis media, otitis externa 

Our Advice 
Care should be paid toward observing your childs response to treatment and daily activity and consult the pediatrician if no improvement occured, in addition to insurance of a well balanced diet rich in vegetables and fruites with adequate amounts of warm liquides and water.
