?What is the treatment of gout

Gout is an inflammatory condition caused by deposition of sodium mono urate crystals in the joint and usually affect the big toe ,  and present with  sudden onset of severe pain associated with hotness and redness .the treatment in the acute phase cosist with giving  analgesic drug like diclofenac , and if the attack recurs, we give allopurinol to reduce the serum concentration of uric acid .

?What are the investigations

We usually perform CBCto look for signs of infections or anemia , perform kidney function test to exclude renal failure , measure serum uric acid , and do x-ray for the affected joint to see the feature of gouty arthritis .

?What are the causes of gouty arthritis  

• Red meat
• Renal failure
• Some drugs like furosemide
• Leukemia
• Metabolic disorder
