Management of hoarseness of voice:
Management depends on the cause of hoarseness of voice. As so many factors can lead to hoarseness of voice, for example: LRTI, seasonal allergy, laryngitis and fatigue of vocal cords due to shouting or speaking for hours. Sometimes the cause is dangerous especially in old age and smokers, as it raises suspicions for neoplasm formation. So you need laryngoscope in this case to rule out any malignancies. Treatment would be: resting of voice, stop smoking (if smoker), drinking plenty of fluids and doing voice excersizes. Sometimes you may need corticosteroids if you were diagnosed as laryngitis or croup.

It is diagnosed by taking full medical history and doing comprehensive clinical examination. Doing routine labs as CBC, Urea and Creatinine. Doing laryngoscope to rule out any malignancies. Doing X-Ray on neck and upper chest.

- Smoking.
- Allergies.
- GERD.
- Vocal cord paralysis.
- Benign vocal cord swellings.
- Thyroid problems.
