Treatment of constipation:

It depends on the cause, and till the right diagnosis you have to start with diet and lifestyle changes as increasing your fiber intake, drinking good amount of water daily, doing regular exercise daily, and you can use fiber supplements as calcium polycarbophil and stimulants including bisacodyl, and you can use glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories

Diagnosis of the cause of constipation:

It depends on the clinical examination by a surgeon and investigations as abdominal standing x-ray to detect intestinal obstruction, colonscopy to detect masses, TSH, Free T4 for thyroid disease, Calcium level...etc

Causes of constipation:

It may be due to:

• Sedentary life style
• Hypothyroidism
• Calcium distubance
• Colon cancer
• Hemorrhoid and anal fissure
• Bowel obstruction
