                   ? What is the treatment of esophageal carcinoma

As we now that esophageal carcinoma generally has a bad prognosis ,and its 5 year survival rate is below 5% and most of the cases are diagnosed in their later stages ,so the goal of treatment just palliative one without cure. some strategies in the treatment of cancer esophagus involve esophagectomy with palliative gastrostomy tube  as a feeding route after the decision of the senior consultant.

 ? What is the recommended investigations 
 After taking the accurate history and physical exam , the investigations involve doing CBC to exclude anemia and leukocytosis as a sign of infection , doing serum chemistry to exclude renal failure and derangement in the serum  electrolyte ,perform upper gi endoscopy and obtaining biopsy to confirm the diagnosis , also do abdomen ,chest and pelvis CT SCAN to know the extent of the spread of the cancer.
