Symptomes and management of period cramps ( Dysmenorrhea )
Dysmenorrhea is considered one of the usual symptomes of period that happens during the first few days of period and accompanied with lower abdominal pain and sometimes epigastric pain and to treat these symptomes effectively you are adviced to take Sulindac 200 mg tab once daily or twice at maximum if needed and to soothen the pain more you can use hot compress over your pupic area during the severe attacks of pain.
required investigations
Dysmenorrhea is a frequent symprome of menses and require no further investigations but if it was so severe then you are adviced to do pelvic Ultrasound to evaluate for the presence of ovarian cystic disease and other anomalies of the uterus and fallopian tubes, CBC is warrented to evaluate for any signs of anemia or Hgb drop due to severe mensis and if so Iron supplimentation is adviced.
causes of severe Dysmenorrhea

You are adviced to take balanced diet rich of fruites and vegetables and avoid drinking caffiene containing drinks, smoking and chocolate and to consult your treating OB & Gyne Doctor if symptomes were so severe

- congenital anomalies of the uterus
- presence of ovarian cysts
- presence of uterine fibroids
- Endometriosis : which is a state of presence of uterine tissue out side the uterus mostly in the abdomen
