Treatment of neck lump:
Treatment depends on the cause, so treatment may be by observation only as the case in viral lymphadenopathy, or by antibiotic for bacterial infection as ogmentin 875 mg twice daily for 5-10 days, and you may need surgical intervention for pus cleaning, and if there is thyroid problem you may need thyroid hormone therapy or surgical intervention.
Diagnosis of the cause of neck lump:
It depends on the clinical examination by a surgeon and investigations as CBC to detect infection, ultrasound to detect nature of the lump and you need biopsy, TSH, Free T4 for thyroid problems.
