We would like to inform you that if the landlady took the rent of April but the owner didn't take it, then according to the Kuwaiti Civil Law text, the contract is the law of the contractors, and most contracts obligate its parties to what has been agreed upon, and neither of them may revoke or amend the contract without the consent of its parties.

Accordingly, if the lease contract was signed between you and the owner, you can recover the rental value, by asking that lady to return the amount or review the police in order to open a complaint against that lady for fraud and taking your money.

But if the lease was signed between you and that lady only, you cannot ask for a refund of this amount.

Article 196

The contract is the law of the contractors, and neither of them may resign by vetoing or amending its provisions, except to the extent permitted by the agreement or the law requires otherwise.

 Article 197

The contract must be executed in accordance with the provisions contained therein, and in a manner consistent with the requirements of good faith and honor to deal.
