What is stomach ?
It's a muscular organ located on the left side of the upper abdomen which receives food from the esophagus
Why is the stomach needed ?
As food reaches the end of the esophagus, it enters the stomach through a muscular valve called the lower esophageal sphincter. The stomach secretes acid and enzymes that break down and digest food

There are four main regions in the stomach
The cardia
Fundus
Body
Pylorus
What are the functions of stomach ?
Temporary storage for food
Mixing and breakdown of food by contraction and relaxation of the muscle layers in the stomach
