the treatment is according to the cause so if there is migraine the treatment is ibuprofen 200 mg every 8 hours and metoclopramide will help to relieve the nausea and if there is no response naratriptan can be used and if the headache comes more than twice in the month metoprolol can be used and there is type of headache called cluster headache which is treated by olnazapine and headache can be caused by tension of the head muscle and its treatment is ibuprofen and there is serious causes of headaches like brain tumor which is treated by surgery and radiation and meningitis which is treated by antibiotics and giant cell arteritis which is treated by cortisone

how to diagnose headache

if there is suspicion in meningitis lumber puncter andCSF culture should be done to know the causative bacteria and if there is suspicion in GCA blood test called CRP should be done and its normal value is less than 3 and if there is suspicion in barin tumor brain CT or MRI should be done
