Good morning. I work for a security company that never cuts on my working hours during Ramadan period and still doesn't pay me for the extra hours. Today as we start Ramadan I inquired if this time I will get paid for the extra hours and I was told I won't be receiving any pay for it. I work 12hrs a day yet the law of Qatar says one should work 6hrs during Ramadan period or be paid overtime for any extra hours. What should I do?

We would like to inform you that in this case, you may file a complaint at the Labor Office against this company, as in accordance with the Labor Law, the maximum working hours shall be eight hours per day. Normal working hours are reduced by two hours during Ramadan month. The hours spent between the place of residence and the place of work shall not be counted in the working hours of the worker.
Where the work circumstances require a worker to work more than the normal number of hours, any period worked in excess shall be treated as overtime, for which the worker shall receive the wage stipulated for his normal working hours, plus a supplement of at least 25 per cent of that wage.
