To complete question: the team, myself included have been made redundant by our employer located in AdGm. I have a job offer letter and contract in which my employer states he will pay me $1m if he ends the contract. This $1m is related to the deferred income from my previous employer. In the termination letter, my employer now doesn’t mention this payment. Can he gets legally away with this?

We would like to inform you that according to the UAE Labor Law, the contract is the main reference between the contractors. Therefore, what is stated in the contract shall be obliged by them. If the penal conditions are not included in the contract then the employer can deny it as below article states:
Article 115
Where an employment contract is for a definite term and the employer revokes it for reasons other than those specified in Article (120) he shall be required to compensate the worker for any damage the latter sustains, provided that the amount of compensation shall in no case exceed the aggregate wage due for a period of three months or the remaining period of the contract, whichever is shorter, unless otherwise stipulated in the contract. unless the reason for termination is related to what is stipulated in Article (120)
