Hello, I gived resignation letter for my company...
Hello, I gived resignation letter for my company and still working one month free. I give my one month salary for my company but they still ask more money and they won't give my passport and i can't booking ticket and going back to my country. Maybe 10 May will be last flight to my country because this virus . I don't know what to do how i can take my passport back ? I have not money to pay for company. 1 month i am waiting they didn't give my passport . What can i do? Help me please

Hello. I work in Grand Exselcior hotel in Bur Dubai. I give my resignation latter in February 16 and after I still work one month and I didn’t take my salary. I give them my one month salary but they ask me pay more and they won’t give my passport. I have not money to pay them I still live here more than 1month because this virus. But soon have flight to my country and I can’t book ticket because I have not passport. I try talk with HR but they don’t want to listen they ask money. Help me please

We would like to inform you that if worker terminates the contract illegally, he shall pay compensation to the employer. The amount of this compensation shall not exceed a maximum of one and a half months salary. The worker shall receive his salary until the last working day. The employer shall not hold the worker's passport without his written approval. If the employer refuses to return the worker's passport, the worker may review i the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in order to file a complaint against the employer.
The worker may also review the police station in order to file a new complaint against the employer for the same reason.
Here is the text of the UAE Labor Law related to your inquiry:
Article 116
Where a contract is revoked by the worker for reasons other than those specified in Article (121), he shall be required to compensate the employer for any damage the latter sustains as a result, provided that the amount of compensation shall not exceed half a month wage for three months or for the remaining period of the contract, whichever is shorter, unless otherwise stipulated in the contract.
The worker may also review the police station in order to file a new complaint against the employer for the same reason.
