Last night I received an email with a contract that has now got a new amended salary in it. The company has decided to pay staff only 50% of their salaries. We have been working from home as we are teachers and doing online teaching. The amendment date on the new contract said it is to start from the 1st of April until June 30th but we only received the email yesterday which is the 16th April. Are they allowed to make us sign something via email like this that states that half our salary is cut halfway through the month? I am on a unlimited contract.

Thank you but which part of what they are doing is illegal? Is it the back dating of the contract to start front the 1st April when we are already on the 17th?
