Ownership of the car in the UAE is transferred by bringing the documents to the approved service centers and doing some procedures that we will talk about now.
Required documents:
From individuals:
- The seller must bring the car ownership and the Emirates ID card or passport
- In case the buyer is a citizen or a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council states, the buyer must bring the original Emirati ID and a copy of a valid passport to update the data if it ends
- If the buyer resides in Dubai and other Emirates, he must bring the original Emirati ID and a copy of the valid passport and residence.
- If the buyer is a diplomat, he must bring a valid diplomatic card and a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- If the buyer is a resident and his residence is from the Oilfields
- Processing Center, he must bring a no-objection certificate to register the vehicles
- Electronic vehicle insurance
- Adding or redeeming the mortgage electronically if the vehicle is mortgaged
- Vehicle inspection
- Delivery of the plates to the center if the seller wishes to keep the plate numbers
- A letter from the police in the event that one of the vehicle’s plates is lost, or both plates are lost, or if the motorcycle’s plate is lost
- Check out classic vehicles at the Emirates Automobile and Touring Club only
Service fee:
The fees for transferring ownership of the UAE car are as follows:
Private light vehicle and public transport: AED 350
Vehicle weighing more than 3 tons and up to 12 tons - Private: AED 400
- Vehicle weighing more than 3 tons and up to 12 tons - Public transport: 650 AED
Vehicle weighing more than 12 tons: 800 AED
- Vehicle weighing more than 12 tons - Public transport: 1,000 AED
- Light mechanical device: 500 AED
- Light mechanical device - Public transport: 700 AED
Heavy mechanical device: 800 AED
Heavy mechanical device - public transport: 1,000 AED
Trailer and semi-trailer: 120 AED
Bus of no less than 14 passengers and no more than 26: 300 AED
Bus of more than 26 passengers: 600 AED
Motorcycle: 200 AED
- 50 AED sales pledge fee
- AED 20+ fee for innovation and knowledge
* Charges vary according to the size of the panels as follows: AED 35 for the short board, AED 50 for the long board, AED 200 for each plate bearing the Dubai logo, and AED 500 for the luxury board.
Mechanism for completing transactions
All the required transactions are made through the centers and service providers, where the customer provides all the documents and pays the fees required to receive the vehicle ownership and the new license plate number if it is changed.
* The concerned person or his legal representative must be present and pay all traffic violations before obtaining the service.
