I'm here working in mirdif dubai. I am a domestic helper.. I need some help. What the best thing I will do right now, I am working here in dubai but my passport not with me and almost 2 months I didn't get my salary. Before when I was 3 months in my boss house I tried to talk with them that I need to go back Philippines because of some emergency.. But then my agency talk to me they said if I will go back in philippines they will block me here in UAE and I told them I want to get my passport back but they refuse to give it to me.. They said if I want my passport back I must pay 19 thousand Dirham.. Is right that they will treat me like this? I I work here with my boss but not giving me day off

According to the announcement of the federal authorities in the UAE, whether general the administration of the residence and foreign affairs or the ministry of human resources and nationality , companies or businessmen shall not keep the passports of the workers as these passports belong to the country which issued it and no one can keep it but the owner. If any employer hold the passport, then the worker can file a complaint against the employer which will result in forcing the employer to return the passport to the worker, imposing a fine, and stop the services by the ministry of human resources and nationality.

How can I get my passport back?? My agency told me if I want my passport I need to pay for them about 19 thousand Dirham.. I can't pay for any lawyer because I don't have enough money what will be the best thing that I will do to fight against agency.. To fight for my right.
