the reatment is done with a brace regardless the streangth of the teeth and in case of mild cases the treatment is done by aligners only and it can move the teeth forward or backward by 2-3 mm and if all the mentioned above methods failed then the doctor might advice you to visit a maxillofacial surgeon for the surgery 
what are the diagnostic mesures in such cases ?
the doctor will exam your bite and check for the look of your protruded teeth then he might ask for an oral CAT scan for the mesurement of the prtrusion level and angle
