there are a lots of pain killers available in the market 
some must needs a medical prescriptions while others not
some of most common pain killers available 
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs -NSAIDS
such as ibuprofen, diclofenac and naproxen.
paracetamol 
opioids 
such as  morphine, oxycodone, pethidine and tramadol.

to take a pain killer you should first identify the problem you suffer from by your doctors because there are so much cases that can be dealt with other method of treatment and pain killers are not the first choice
