Treatment of dry cough

It is common condition due to viral upper respiratory tract infection at most cases. Firstly, you have to avoid smoking and dust exposure as you can . in addition to that increase your intake of hot drinks and Vitamin c juices like lemon and orange. Also

• You can take anti histamine drugs like DEXONGEX tabs once or twice daily to relieve cough
• CAFESPAN SYRUP 5 cc three times daily to relieve cough also

It is expected to experience dry cough for weeks then subsequent improvement .

Investigations to do

At most cases, it is due to viral infection as i said thus there is no need to do many investigations. But you can do CBC test to clarify if there is increased WBC count which related to infection. Also chest x ray to determine if there is any infection in lungs and respiratory system.

Causes of dry cough

There are many causes like the following

• Influenza
• Post nasal drops
• GERD
• Asthma
• Drugs side effects

At most cases it is benign condition which improved with time only.
