Treatment depends on the cause after conducting the necessary tests and the thyroid gland is direct influincer so it must be corrected , but the treatment can be summarized as follows:
exercise daily
Maintain a daily sleep schedule regularly
Avoid caffeine at night
Avoid smoking
Avoid going to bed with feeling of hunger
Ensure a comfortable sleeping environment.
Use relaxation techniques - such as meditation and relaxation of muscles.
Cognitive therapy - individual counseling or group therapy.
Stimulate mental control - just go to bed when you are sleepy. Avoid watching TV, reading, eating or worrying in bed. Set the alarm clock at the same time each morning , and avoid a long nap during the day
Antidepressants like elatrol or paroxetine
Antihistamines such as hudu tab 1x1
Melatonin which is a sleep hormone
short term use of benzodiazepines such as xanax 1x1
What causes insomnia?
Insomnia can be caused by physical and psychological factors. There is sometimes a major medical condition causing chronic insomnia, while transitory insomnia may be due to an event and insomnia usually results from:
Disorders in the rhythmic sleep routine - jet lag, career transformation changes, high altitudes, environmental noise, extreme heat or cold.
Psychological issues - bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorders, or psychotic disorders.
Medical conditions - chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, congestive heart failure, angina, acid reflux disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, sleep apnea, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, hyperthyroidism

Hello doctor I have tried alternate therapy But I am bipolar and I have attention deficit disorder add. So I do need strong advice on a new treatment, and changing all my medication. Since I am not getting better. I do need to check my thyroid.Since I had them surgically removed 20 years ago. Mentally I have lost my father in 1998 And my brother 2010 So as u can see I have an ability to never let things pass My depression level is over the line But now am 41 and I need to maintain a certain level of normality Since I have lived since 2010 And please be advised that I do excessive research on any medication that is proscribed to me That’s why I am not happy with my current meds Awaiting for your reply and advice Thank you
