Treatment of period delay and discharge:
It depends on the cause, so treatment may include:- Conservative management by having good nutrition, avoid stress, drink good amount of water daily, doing regular exercise
- Flagyl 500 mg three times daily, miconazole cream twice daily, dektazole ovarian suppository once daily before sleep for 3 days for vaginal infection
- Hormonal therapy as contraceptive medications
- Surgery as treatment of cysts, fibroids
And before taking any medication, you have to rule out pregnancy.
Causes of period delay and discharge:
- Pregnancy
- Ovarian cysts
- Stress
- Uterine fibroids
- Vaginal infection
- Nutritional problems
- Hormonal disturbances
Diagnosis of the cause of period delay and discharge:
You have to visit a gynacologist for clinical examination and investigations as:
- Pregnancy test
- Abdomen and pelvis US
- CBC
- TSH, Free T4 for thyroid diease
- LH, FSH, Prolactin...etc
