thats not right , as syphilis have many medical tests , and some of it will remain positive  and some other will back to negative , and accompanation of those tests will tell your medical condition 
What kind of tests that will remain positive after treatment ?
treponemal antibodies test 
Causes of std infection :
1. unprotected sexual intercourse 
2. touching infection partner 
3. anal sexual intercourse 
What are the signs and symptoms of STD infections :
1. skin reactions such as reddness or irritation or itching especially around the private area
2. pain during sexual intercourse , urinating 
3. penis discharge 
4. semen color or shape changes 
5. fever
6. flu-like symptoms
