We would like to inform you that if you want information about the differences between the asylum to Qatar or the asylum by UNHCR then check the below:

First: Asylum in Qatar

In order to be able to apply for asylum in Qatar, you must be inside Qatar. You cannot apply for asylum outside the country.

You can apply for asylum if one of the following reasons shall be met:

• The risk of being sentenced to death or corporal punishment
• Torture
• Brutal or degrading treatment
• Persecution based on race, religion, membership of a particular social group or political views.

The Qatari Council of Ministers issued resolutions 12 and 13 of 2019, specifying the categories that can obtain political asylum in Qatar:

1. Human rights defenders who are prosecuted and threatened with arrest, imprisonment or torture for their positions against human rights violations;
2. Who have fled because of sentences imposed as a result of this situation.
3. Correspondents and delegates of the visual and written media who work to document and portray the facts and acts that constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity and are subject to prosecution and threats for their work.
4. Persons belonging to political parties, religious communities or ethnic minorities who are liable to prosecution or persecution because of such affiliation.
5. Writers and researchers who express their opinions in newspapers, magazines or blogs and are subject to prosecution and threats because of this.
6. Former or current government officials opposed to or dissenting from their governments, and feared being prosecuted and threatened for doing so.

Second: Asylum through UNHCR

The application shall be submitted to the UNHCR if you reside in a country where you do not have a nationality. Also, you shall have one of the reasons mentioned in asylum to Qatar, or there is army dispute in your country.
