No party may detain the passport except by judicial order and in accordance with the law. Withholding a passport is a crime punishable by the law with a fine of up to 20,000 dirhams, the employee can file a complaint against the employer in the local labor office and even file a complaint at the police.

We would like to inform you The time to issue a judgment in a labor case is a matter of litigation, but the UAE labor law recommended that labor issues be considered urgently and that all cases should be adjudicated within at least three months.

Article 5 of the UAE Labor Relations Regulation Law:

shall be exempt from the fees of the jurisdiction proceedings and the claims filed by the workers based on the provisions of this law.  In the event of a judgment of inadmissibility or refusal, the Court may adjudicate all or some of its expenses to its addressee.
