We would like to inform you that if your inquiry relates to the extent of the employee's right to apply for compensation as a result of a heart attack while being in the workplace, the following information are important:
The UAE Labor Law has granted workers the right to claim compensation if their injury or illness is due to work. If a heart attack is caused by work, such as a worker doing more than usual resulting in a heart attack, only in that case the worker may claim compensation.
Here is the text of the UAE Labor Law regarding your inquiry:
Article 1:
Occupational Injury: Any of the work-related diseases listed in the schedule attached hereto or any other injury sustained by a worker during and by reason of carrying out his duties. Any accident sustained by a worker on his way to or back from work shall be considered an occupational injury, provided that the journey to and from work is made without any break, lingering or diversion from the normal route.
